Our vision

A strong Canadian economy where small and medium-sized businesses can get the financing they need to grow.

Our goal

Help Canadian businesses get through the end of the CEBA program with accessible, plain-English information and fair financing options.

Our mission

Explain where your CEBA loan stands, what happens if it is not repaid by December 31, 2026, and how to compare lenders that can refinance the balance if you cannot pay it in cash.

The CEBA story so far

  • April 2020: the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) launches with interest-free loans of up to $40,000.
  • December 2020: the maximum loan increases from $40,000 to $60,000.
  • January 2022: the repayment deadline to qualify for partial forgiveness is extended to December 31, 2023.
  • February 2023: ceba.ca launches.
  • January 18, 2024: the final forgiveness deadline passes. Unpaid balances become term loans charging 5% interest a year.
  • December 31, 2026: the full remaining CEBA balance is due.
